In scouting there are various ranks for each scout to work towards. When a boy joins Boy Scouting the first rank he will work towards is Scout. Once he has mastered the requirements for this level he will be advancing toward the rank of Second Class Scout. Once he has completed the requirements for Second Class scout he will begin to take on responsibilities within the troop, these are refered to as positions of responsibility. While the Second Class scout is working toward First Class he may serve in a role as an Assistant Patrol Leader for example. He will also begin his work on Merit Badges which will be needed for rank advancement after First Class. Once the scout has mastered the skills requirements need for First Class he will begin his trail to Eagle. On this trail he will first have to become a Star Scout. After he has completed the needed merit badges, project requirements and fullfilled his troop leadership responsibilities and successfully passed his Board of Review he will begin working on the rank of Life. Much like Star he will have to complete the needed merit badges, project requirements and fullfill troop leadership responsibilities and successfully pass a Board of Review. Then he will be ready to accend on the rank of Eagle. Here he will be challenged to completed the needed merit badges, project requirements and fullfilled his troop leadership responsibilities and successfully passed his Board of Review, but at a higher standard. Once the scout has reached this pinnacle in scouting he can become a Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and take part in the operation of the troop in a different capacity then he has seen as a scout.
The following pages will give you all the needed requirements for you to reach the ultimate goal in scouting. Good look on the trail and remember you are not alone on this journey your leaders and fellow scouts are there for you to lend guidence and training along the way.
I look forward to adding your name to the Troop 205 Eagles Nest.
